In all regions of Russia, due to the difficult situation regarding the coronavirus, on October 30, a non-working day regime began to operate, which will last until November 7 inclusive. The purpose of this measure is to stop the spread of the infection.
On October 20, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decree on the establishment of non-working days with the preservation of wages in the country for the period from October 30 to November 7 in connection with the epidemiological situation with the coronavirus.

According to the document, the heads of the regions, based on the situation on the ground, could establish additional non-working days until October 30 and may extend them after November 7, but also with the preservation of wages for the workers.
In particular, in Moscow and the Moscow region, the non-working day regime has been in effect since October 28. Closed shopping centers, leisure and fitness centers, swimming pools. Among the objects that continue to work are enterprises with a continuous production cycle, medical institutions, pharmacies, grocery stores, and distance selling stores. At the same time, cafes and restaurants can only work as a takeaway.
On the recommendation of the Ministry of Education, Russian schools go on holidays during non-working days from October 30 to November 7, and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education has allowed universities to transfer students to distance learning. Colleges can go on vacation during this period, provided that the completeness of the educational process is maintained, and the further curriculum is adjusted.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova addressed the President with a proposal to introduce non-working days in the country due to the difficult epidemiological situation and insufficient vaccination rates.
She also recommended that Russians refrain from traveling during non-working days, drawing attention to the worsening epidemiological situation in a number of regions, as well as to the high workload of the healthcare system in Russia.
The head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova expressed the hope that the non-working day regime will help to bring down the wave of COVID-19 morbidity.
A large-scale vaccination has been taking place in Russia since January. Citizens are vaccinated for free. Five vaccines against coronavirus have been registered in the country: Sputnik V, which became the first vaccine against COVID-19 in the Russian Federation and the world, as well as Sputnik Light, EpiVacCorona, EpiVacCorona-N and KoviVak.
