Yesterday, the European Parliament approved a set of new measures that would facilitate the rules for obtaining work and residence permits within the European Union for immigrants.
This came in a resolution adopted by the European Parliament by a majority of 465 members, while 122 members rejected and 27 members abstained from voting on updating the directive issued in 2011, which established a single administrative procedure known as the “unified permit” to receive applications from those wishing to reside and work in one of the European Union countries. and a common set of workers' rights.
The new procedures would enable the applicant to receive a response within 90 days to decide whether to obtain a work and residence permit instead of the four months currently in effect. The procedures related to examining files can also be extended for a period of 30 days, allowing the holder of a valid residence permit to apply for a “unified permit” from within the country in which he is located, and to change his legal status without the need to return to his homeland.
