For years we have heard that a remastering of Metroid Prime is on its way to the Nintendo Switch. Although at the moment there is no official information, an insider assures that not only is this project a reality, but it would be available at the end of this year.
Recently, Jeff Grubb, famous industry insider, commented that a complete remastering of the original Metroid Prime would arrive on the Nintendo Switch at some point next November, this to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the original GameCube release. This was what he had to say about it on the Game Mess Mornings stream:
“I can say that they definitely told me that Metroid Prime Remastered will be one of their big games by the end of the year. In the past, this is something I’ve heard was in the works. They’ve had stuff going on with that game. Now, it’s like they told me their plans are to release that game at the end of the year, I think, to line up with the 20th anniversary in November.”
Grubb has pointed out that Metroid Prime would get the full remaster deal, though he didn’t share any specific details. With this, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes Y Metroid Prime 3: Corruption they would also come to the Switch in the future. These two sequels would not have such a notable change, and the insider has indicated that we would only see a couple of visual improvements and updated controls.
For now, Nintendo has not denied or confirmed this information.. Although a new Direct will be held tomorrow, the presentation will be focused on third party companies, so don’t expect any kind of news related to Metroid in the coming days.

Editor’s note:
It’s about time that Metroid Prime have a remaster. While the GameCube classic still looks and plays great, a Switch remake would be perfect. However, I doubt we’ll hear about these in the coming months.
