a man has been evacuated with serious injuries when falling to an area without water in the La Baells de Cercs reservoir (Barcelona) when he was practicing base jumping, an extreme sport that consists of falling from a great height using a parachute for the descent.
As reported by the Generalitat Fire Department, the accidentwhich occurred shortly before 08:00 this morning, has mobilized two endowments of the body, who had to rescue the injured person, and the Medical Emergency System (SEM).
The man, who suffered serious injuries in the fall, has been immobilized and evacuated to the Parc Taulí Hospital in Sabadell (Barcelona) in a helicopter of the Medical Emergency System, which has also transported two ground units to the scene of the accident.
