A man armed with a knife entered the Montagut school in Santa Susanna, in Barcelona, this Friday morning. The man has scaled the fence at the entrance, and has stated that he was seeking refuge. The center’s own professionals have been able to disarm him by talking to him, according to the Department of Education. Before, they had evacuated the school students to a safe area. In some images of what happened, you can see a man without a shirt, on the floor of the entrance, while he is detained by the agents, and the students closed in a gym.
The episode began around eleven in the morning and lasted approximately an hour, according to the Catalan police. The man climbed up to enter the building, and finally fell. The individual has not been able to access the interior, properly, of the secondary school building of the school institute, where the classrooms are located. The center has notified both the local police and the Mossos, who finally subdued him, and took him to the hospital with minor injuries. The Mossos rule out that the man had the will to attack anyone.
The Department of Education has activated the program’s team of psychologists Wellness for being baby, which will offer the educational center the support it may need, both for students and teachers. The school institute has also informed the families of what happened, and has informed them that the minors have been managing the situation, and that the students are safe and out of danger.
The Mossos d’Esquadra are now investigating the causes that led the man to try to jump into the school. Police sources are working with the hypothesis that he could have been involved in a previous robbery attempt, that he was fleeing and seeking refuge at the school.
