The capital’s central headquarters of the Russian Investigative Committee named jealousy as the reason for the murder in the west of Moscow
The version about the contract nature of the murder committed on Alexey Sviridov Street (Fili-Davydkovo district, Western Administrative District of Moscow) has not yet been confirmed – Lenta.ru was informed about this at the capital’s headquarters of the Investigative Committee of Russia (ICR). Investigators consider the priority motive for the crime to be a personal conflict between the suspect and the victim, which arose against the background of jealousy.
The killer and the victim did not share the girl
According to preliminary data, the killer was 35-year-old Andrei Demin, and the victim was 34-year-old IT specialist Konstantin Balishansky. They did not share the girl: this conflict led to the crime.
Demin and Balishansky knew each other because they had previously worked together at the Mediasystem Group, owned by businessman Andrei Balishansky. Demin has already come to the attention of law enforcement officials: he was detained in 2018 for drug trafficking.
In addition, the killer and the victim were connected by a passion for skateboarding: according to Mash, Demin recently worked in an online store selling equipment for skateboarders.
In turn, Konstantin Balishansky in 2006 became the first skater of the NikeSB Russia team. At the time of the crime, he worked as a system administrator in his father’s company, which provides exhibitions and events with multimedia equipment, LED and LCD screens.
The assassination attempt on an IT specialist took five months to prepare
The assassination attempt, the victim of which was Konstantin Balishansky, was prepared for about five months. In early February, data about him began to be collected in databases that were in the public domain, as well as on the darknet. In addition, a dossier was ordered on Balishansky, finding out his travel routes and the places where he visited.
According to preliminary data, on the day of the assassination attempt, Andrei Demin had previously taped up the intercom cameras at the entrance of the house where Konstantin lived. The criminal disguised himself, dressed all in black, and pulled a medical mask over his face.
The killer opened fire near the playground
Andrei Demin attacked Konstantin Balishansky in the area of the playground. After the first shot, the victim started to run, but the killer overtook him, knocked him down with targeted shots and finished him off near the entrance of a residential building on Alexei Sviridov Street. The criminal fired from an AKS-74U assault rifle.
After the murder, Demin hid in the courtyards of residential buildings in the Fili-Davydkovo area. Law enforcement officials assumed that the criminal could have hidden in someone’s car, so they checked all vehicles and combed the forest area within a four-kilometer zone from the murder scene.
At about 13:00, Demin was found in the area of Aminevskoye Highway: after a short shootout, he was detained. In this case, the suspect was seriously injured and was hospitalized in serious condition.
The shooter will face life in prison
As Yulia Ivanova, senior assistant to the head of the capital’s main headquarters of the Investigative Committee of Russia (ICR), told Lenta.ru, a criminal case has been opened into the crime under Part 1 of Article 105 (“Murder”) and Article 222 (“Illegal storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition to him”) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
Meanwhile, as a source in law enforcement agencies told Lenta.ru, in the future, the detained Andrei Demin will be charged under Article 317 (“Encroachment on the life of a law enforcement officer”), since he staged a shootout with the police. In this case, the shooter will face life imprisonment.
