A few days ago the secretary general of the NATOJens Stoltenberg, resigned from his position, a position in which he was succeeded by the Dutchman Mark Rutte, in one of the most turbulent moments for the military organization, to which Ukraine wanted to belong, a fact that unleashed the invasion of Russia.
Now, the Norwegian journalist Yama Wolasmal has recovered an interview he did with him, in which he caught the top leader of NATO on several occasions regarding various data.
“Jens Stoltenberg resigns as NATO chief after 10 years in the job. I met him at NATO headquarters in Brussels to discuss the lessons of the disastrous war in Afghanistanand if NATO is surviving a war that Ukraine is condemned to lose and why it was so worried about China,” the journalist said alongside the video, which has gone viral on social networks.
““You and NATO have identified China as a threat to NATO values.”Yama Wolasmal said on Norwegian television, before asking Stoltenberg how many countries China had intervened militarily in in the last 40 years.
“In Vietnam,” the NATO Secretary General responds in the video. “The correct answer is zero. Zero in 40 years. Vietnam was before that“Wolasmal corrects him.
“In how many countries in the world does China have military bases?” the journalist then asked, to which the former Secretary General only managed to say “in some.” But it is incorrect. “In a country. China has the only major military base in Djibouti“answers the interviewer.
Next, Yama Wolasmal makes a reflection: “The US has attacked at least 13 countries in the last 40 years. The Americans have 750 bases in 80 countriesmany of them at the gates of China. And yet you believe that it is China that represents a threat.”
This is when Stoltenberg argues in favor of the argument that China could pose a danger. “It is because China is a country that is becoming increasingly militarized. They are investing in major military capabilities, including nuclear weapons that can reach NATO. They settle in the South China Sea and violate international law. As a coastal nation, Norway is concerned about maintaining the law of the sea,” stated the now former NATO secretary.
