The houses begin to be occupied again, although the basement will remain sealed until the damage assessment
The fire woke them up in the middle of the night. A hundred residents of La Unión had to be evicted during the early hours of Sunday due to a fire in a garage of a four-story building located on Carretera Irún street.
The emergency coordination center received several calls around 6:00 a.m. reporting what had happened. At the moment, the origin of the fire is unknown, which has left at least ten burned vehicles and a dozen affected by water and soot.
Around 8:00 a.m. the fire was considered controlled by firefighters and around 10:00 a.m. the rehousing of the houses was authorized. Even so, the basement will remain sealed until the damage assessment.
Although there have been more damages than the materials, the emergency health personnel treated one person for an anxiety crisis.
Eight fire vehicles were dispatched to the scene, with 10 members of the CEIS from the Region of Murcia, two vehicles with 16 firefighters from the Cartagena Fire Extinguishing Service, Civil Protection of La Unión, Local Police of La Unión and Guardia Civil.
