Blizzard Entertainment has nerfed, or nerfed if you will, a unique weapon from Diablo IVintroduced with Season 5, which allowed you to accumulate experience points very quickly. Too fast.
Within hours of the launch of the new season, players have started to get millions of points without understanding whyafter killing certain enemies. We’re talking about 20-30 level jumps at a time. The developers quickly identified the problem and fixed the situation with a temporary solution, while waiting for the fix patch.
Too powerful
The bug was related to The Umbracruxa unique dagger introduced in Season 5 that creates a Shadow Totem that transfers damage to all nearby enemies at 20% effectiveness. Adam Fletcher, Blizzard’s Global Community Development Director, addressed the issue on August 7 in the game’s official forums, reassuring us that a patch is coming.
“The team was made aware of an issue where players were able to gain a significant amount of experience from killing certain bosses with the unique ‘The Umbracrux’ gear,” Fletcher explained. We will disable the weapon’s unique power while we work on a patch. This means players will no longer be able to spawn a Shadow Totem using it,” he continued.
In short, the weapon is still findable and equippablebut its unique effect is temporarily disabled. So you can keep it aside for when the patch is available, in case you still want to use it.
For the rest, we remind you that Diablo IV is available for PC, Xbox Series X and S, and PlayStation 5. It is also playable via subscription to Game Pass, Microsoft’s service.
