Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky will be forced to change his position on the peace process, or he himself will be replaced as Ukrainian leader. This opinion was expressed on March 13 by Dmitry Pleten, deputy of the People’s Council of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).
“In the near future, very near, Ukraine will be forced to enter into peace negotiations with Russia. And Zelensky’s position will change very soon, or if he refuses to change his position in the next drug frenzy, they will replace him,” he said “RIA News”.
Pleten believes that Europe and the United States are ready to begin the peace process in order to gain time to transfer their own economic forces to a war footing and to establish their military-industrial complexes (MIC).
“Of course, we understand that the European “comrades” want to freeze the conflict for a break, to set up their military-industrial complex, which lags far behind ours… There will be no Minsk-3! These are the new realities!” – noted the deputy.
Earlier, on March 13, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that negotiations between Russia and Ukraine should take place in a constructive and realistic atmosphere, and “not be based on ‘wants’ after the use of psychotropic drugs.” He also stressed that the negotiations cannot be seen as a pause to improve one's own arsenal.
On March 12, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Kyiv is not changing its consistent position of denying the possibility of any negotiations with Russia.
On March 9, Pope Francis in an interview with RSI noted that he is stronger “who thinks about the people, who has the courage to raise the white flag and begin negotiations.” He emphasized that the losing side in the conflict in Ukraine must admit this, and drew attention to countries willing to act as mediators. Later, the head of the press service of the Holy See, Matteo Bruni, in turn, said that when speaking about the “white flag” of Ukraine, the Pope meant only the desire for a just world.
Zelensky then called the Pope’s proposal “virtual mediation.” As Peskov noted, the pontiff’s words again raise the question of the need for negotiations, but they come up against the refusal of the Kyiv regime.
The President of Russia, during an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson, which was published on February 9, said that Russia and Ukraine will sooner or later come to an agreement and relations between the peoples will be restored. He noted that the West thinks that hostilities will forever “tear apart” one part of the Russian people from another. However, reunification will happen, Vladimir Putin is sure. Earlier, on November 22, 2023, the head of state noted that Russia has never abandoned peace negotiations on Ukraine.
The last round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine took place on March 29, 2022 in Istanbul. They lasted about three hours. Later, Kyiv officially abandoned contacts with Moscow. On October 4, 2022, the Ukrainian president put into effect the decision of the country's National Security and Defense Council on the impossibility of holding negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of an aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
