Mikati contacted Qardahi after consulting with Lebanese President Michel Aoun, against the background of the crisis of statements made by the Minister of Information earlier.
Mikati also asked the Lebanese Foreign Minister, Abdullah Bouhabib, to “remain in Beirut and not to join the Lebanese delegation to the United Nations Climate Change Conference” in Scotland, in order to “keep abreast of recent developments and developments and establish a cell to manage this emerging crisis in Lebanon.”
Bouhabib said that from Beirut, he would “manage a cell whose main task is to heal the rift in order to overcome the unfortunate new dispute.”
In a statement, the foreign minister added that Lebanese officials “believe that what is happening is a problem and not a crisis with the brothers in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states, and that it can be overcome and resolved through sincere brotherly dialogue and in the interest of our friendly countries.”
And the statement continued: “Trust that Lebanon is very keen to keep the lines of communication and convergence open with Saudi Arabia and its Gulf brothers, and is determined to restore the best and best relations based on everything that unites us and brings us closer.”
