A computer failure at Banco Santander generates duplicate charges in customer accounts

Banco Santander has alerted its clients this Thursday that a computer error is causing their card charges to appear duplicated in their accounts. The failure has not affected all the entity’s users, as elDiario.es has learned.

This is the same error of this type in less than a year that Banco Santander suffers. In March 2024, another computer incident resulted in a similar result. In that case, the entity reported that it was only a “display” error, so the duplicate charges did not affect the money stored in the account.

In this Wednesday’s ruling, Santander has not given details on this point. “Due to a technical incident, it is possible that some of your card movements appear duplicated. We are sorry for the inconvenience. “We are working to solve it as soon as possible,” is the message he sent to those affected.

The Bank has also not resolved this doubt for users through social networks, who wonder if they can use their money to make payments or if it is being held in duplicate charges.

“We are working to resolve the incident as soon as possible to regularize the movements that now appear duplicated,” the entity answers.
