52 thousand tourists visited the Tver region this season. This is twice as much as in 2017. The regional tourism ministry summed up the cruise season.
338 cruise liners have moored in the Upper Volga region: 123 of them – in Tver, 211 – in Kalyazin and four more – in Vesyegonsk.
Water tourism is one of the priority areas of development for the Tver region. According to Governor Igor Rudeni, who lead “Tverskiye vedomosti”, Tver region can become a center of river tourism for the entire Volga basin.
At the mouth of the Shosha River, on the territory of the Zavidovo special economic zone, the construction of a new river port is underway. The facility is being erected as part of the creation of a complex of supporting infrastructure in the Volga Sea tourist and recreational cluster.
The Ministry of Tourism of the region and representatives of the Imperial Palace in Tver have developed an excursion for cruise tourists with a full immersion in the era.
New tourist products are also appearing in Kalyazin. Thus, the Volgari Museum was opened, which tells about the history of the flooded part of the city. By the next cruise season, a new museum complex “Rodnya” is to be opened.
