The Portuguese Easyskippered by Michael Zankel and representing the Clube Naval de Cascais, leads the VIII Puerto Portals Dragon Winter Series with 23 points thanks to his consistency throughout the six tests played. It is followed by Basic Logic, by Werner Deuring (Austria), with 27 points, while the German Goldkante, led by Tanja Jacobsohn, occupies third position with 41 points.
The best classified among the Spanish boats is the No Name Dragon, by Javier Chacárteguiwhich sails under the banner of the Club Nàutic s’Arenal. He currently occupies fourth place, tied on 41 points with Goldkante, after registering his best partial with a second place in the first regatta of the series.
This weekend the second round of the VIII Puerto Portals Dragon Winter Series. Saturday had unbeatable conditions for navigation in the bay of Palma, with a Mistral wind (NW) of 11 knots of medium intensitywhich allowed the dispute of two tests. However, Sunday’s day could not be played due to lack of wind. After an initial postponement on land, the Race Committee opted to send the fleet to the race course around 10:30 a.m., when a southwest breeze of 8 knots had been recorded, which suggested favorable conditions for racing. But, after several hours of waiting, the wind dropped again and the conditions were not sufficient to guarantee the development of the tests. Finally, the Committee decided to suspend the day.
The competition, organized by the Puerto Portals Regatta Clubwill continue with the third round from January 19 to 21, 2025and will conclude with the fourth round, which will be held from February 22 to 24.
With a fleet of 21 boats representing seven countriesthe VIII Puerto Portals Dragon Winter Series is established as one of the most outstanding events of the Dragon class at the national level.
