Koldo García, who was an advisor to former Minister of Transport José Luis Ábalos, has defended the work of that department during the pandemic in the acquisition of masks – contracts for which he is being investigated within the framework of ‘Operation Delorme’ – maintaining that “everything was done well” and he has asserted that as a ministerial advisor he also solved problems for other ministries: “For everyone.”
This is what he said during the exclusive interview with Europa Press, in which he emphasized that You cannot make self-criticism about those mask purchase contracts that were awarded to the company Soluciones de Gestión, which is at the epicenter of the investigation, because it believes that “everything was correct, the technicians gave the go-ahead and it was not expensive.” “I mean, the material was brought, I think it was done well. Self-criticism? I don’t know if more could have been achieved,” he explained.
However, he has pointed out that “of course” it could have been done better, but that “the situation, the moment and the knowledge” that was available about the pandemic in that specific time frame must be taken into account.
Regarding the task of obtaining this medical material, he explained that he only remembers that “they said we had to get it” and, although he did not want to go into detail because the matter was judicialized, he explained that they began “to receive offers and that is where the entire procedure that the public administration has to carry it out began.”
Regarding the reason why the Ministry opted for Management Solutions, Koldo García stressed that in the whirlwind of offers and market “she was the cheapest and had worked for the Ministry of Defense.”
Aldama wanted to “destabilize” the PSOE
Furthermore, García has considered that it is no coincidence that the voluntary declaration of the alleged achiever of the plot, Victor de Aldamabefore the judge in which he accused officials of the Government and the PSOE of receiving bites ifto “just when this weekend is the PSOE Congress”, pointing out that the objective was to “destabilize” the party.
“Man, destabilizing the PSOE, there are some people who are very interested. Who? Well, citizens of Spain, who are also citizens, but “There are ways to do things and not with lies and deception.”he added in the interview.
He explained that De Aldama’s release from prison – in preventive detention in the context of a case for fraud in the hydrocarbons sector – after indicting those Government officials occurred very quickly: “It has never happened in Spain.”
Furthermore, he has highlighted his surprise at the fact that De Aldama’s voluntary declaration would be celebrated with such speed, and has insisted on the possibility that it occurred because it sought to destabilize the 41st Federal Congress of the PSOE, which is being held this weekend in Seville.
Delcy’s visit “benefited Spain
Furthermore, he considers that “it was done very well” with the failed visit of the Venezuelan vice president, Delcy Rodríguez, to Spain in January 2020. “I think that Spain benefited a lot,” he maintained, recalling that the matter “is completely clarified judicially” and initially ruling out saying “anything” on the subject.
“Why am I? If it is already completely closed,” he answers when asked about the visit of the Venezuelan president. Likewise, García, who assures that he did his “job”, which was “to be with Mr. José Luis Ábalos”, refuses to clarify whether the businessman Víctor de Aldama, the alleged achiever of the plot, He boarded the plane with the former minister.
“That’s it, I did my job and that’s it. And I think it was done very well and that Spain benefited a lot,” he thinks, also trying to explain why there are so many versions about Delcy Rodríguez’s visit. “Spain is like that: very extensive and very plural in opinions,” he adds.
Praises the investigated civil guard
On the other hand, he believes that Rubén Villalba, the commander of the Civil Guard investigated in the National Court for his alleged involvement in the plot, is “one of the best officers there is” and sees it as “strange” that he is charged. “There has to be an error, a misinterpretation,” he said in an interview with Europa Press.
It should be remembered that both Villalba and García himself are being investigated by Judge Ismael Moreno in the case. “He has given everything for the Civil Guard and for Spain. “I can say that,” he answers when asked about Villalba, with whom he had “a very good relationship.”
Regarding the fact that he ended up accused, Koldo García believes that It is “quite strange”, under his “criterion”. “I don’t see him capable of anything they are saying, it seems incredible to me. There has to be an error, a misinterpretation, or something that the Central Operational Unit (UCO) has been able to do, because some mistakes are made,” he maintains.
Precisely, when asked about the actions of the Civil Guard unit itself, the man who was Ábalos’ bodyguard believes that “His behavior leaves a lot to be desired in many ways.” “I have said more than once, and I maintain it, and I can prove it, that six months before my arrest I had already detected that three vehicles were following me, apart from detractions and other things, which they know perfectly well,” he explains. .
