The president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, affirmed this Wednesday that Mexico has agreed to stop the arrival of migrants to US territory “with immediate effect.”
“Mexico will stop people heading to our southern border, effective immediately. THIS WILL GREATLY HELP STOP THE ILLEGAL INVASION OF THE UNITED STATES. Thank you!” Trump wrote on his social network, Truth Social.
Trump’s statement came after maintaining a telephone conversation with the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum.
