This Tuesday it was inaugurated in Torrelavega the conference ‘Innovation in Outdoor Learning: Challenges and Opportunities for Inclusion and Support for the Person’in which International experts analyze the possibilities of outdoor learning in the field of disability. The event, which is taking place at the Center for Technological Promotion and Innovation, is promoted by the initiative New Education Forum (NEF+) and organized by Amica and the Polish Center for Innovative Education (PIE).
The objective is analyze the main challenges for inclusivity in Europe in a collaborative way and explore new learning methodologies in nature. In the presentation, the mayor of Torrelavega, Javier López Estrada, highlighted that this ‘outdoor learning’ methodology has “enormous potential to break barriers, both physical and social, and to generate spaces where all people can participate and contribute”. “It is a powerful tool to ensure that no one is left behind, regardless of their abilities, their origin or their circumstances”, something that, as the councilor has highlighted, is a priority for the Torrelavega City Council.

Furthermore, he has highlighted the interest of outdoor learning not only to promote inclusion, but for society in general. “Current and future generations don’t just need technical skills or academic knowledge; they need resilience, creativity, the ability to collaborate and adapt”and “all these competencies can be cultivated in outdoor environments, where real challenges become opportunities for personal and collective growth.”
For this reason, the mayor has been convinced that This meeting “will be the beginning of new ideas, collaborations and projects that will make a difference in our communities”because the participation of Polish Center for Innovative Education“with his experience and global perspectives he enriches this debate.” López Estrada has also highlighted the City Council’s support for Amica, which due to its work “is a fundamental pillar of our community.” His “tireless work in favor of inclusion, his support for people in vulnerable situations and his ability to lead pioneering projects” is “an example for all of us,” he said.
The New Education Forum platform, of which 21 countries are part, aims to promote new solutions in education that better prepare diverse environments for the challenges of the contemporary world while encouraging collaboration between local governments, universities, research centers, non-governmental organizations and employers.
