Reyes Maroto asks Lobato to convene an executive of the PSOE of Madrid and submit to a “motion of confidence”

The war within the Socialist Party of Madrid seems far from subsiding. After Juan Lobato’s refusal this Tuesday to present his resignation after ABC published that he registered before a notary a conversation with Pilar Sánchez Acera, Chief of Staff of Minister Óscar López, about the alleged leak of the email that Ayuso’s partner sent to the Prosecutor’s Office recognizing his double tax fraud, the internal pressure against the leader of the Madrid socialists has not stopped growing.

The spokesperson for the PSOE in the Madrid city council, the former Minister of Industry, Reyes Maroto, demands that her colleague urgently call an extraordinary meeting of the regional executive of her party and submit to a question of confidence. “Confidence has to be gained again. He has to develop a motion of confidence in a regional executive committee that he convenes as soon as possible,” Maroto said at a press conference at the capital’s town hall.

When asked whether or not she supports Lobato, the PSOE municipal spokesperson made it clear that she “would not have acted like that.” “I certainly would have done things differently, I believe that loyalty is what counts in a political party. I think that [a Lobato] “He has lacked loyalty, especially towards a colleague of his Executive such as Sánchez Acera.” “Let’s hope that the secretary general in this motion of confidence not only gives explanations but also what responsibilities [tiene] in the facts that we are learning that clearly worry us,” he added.

Maroto has assured that in the PSOE “they respect the internal governments, the things that are talked about must also be talked about internally to make the best decisions and convey to the citizens” and the regional management of Madrid now has to decide “what is the role of Juan Lobato”. “You know that we are on the verge of primaries… and we have to know if the leadership in the PSOE in Madrid has to be renewed. I believe that Juan Lobato has to give many explanations to the militancy,” he concluded.

Previously, the Government delegate in Madrid, Francisco Martín, has demanded that Lobato give “more solid” explanations about the “delicate and serious” decisions that he has adopted in recent weeks and that the Executive committee be convened as soon as possible. regional PSOE.

“It is serious to fall or cause distractions regarding what is fundamental, which is that statement from that particular man who will testify because he is the one who is really involved in this matter and everything else is distractions. They are distractions and I think we should not fall into them,” he said in reference to the boyfriend of the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, Alberto González Amador and his alleged crimes against the Public Treasury.

For the moment, the PSOE leadership is careful not to make a public statement about the possible dismissal or resignation of Lobato, whom it privately considers politically terminated. “We cannot understand that a person goes to a notary to record a conversation with a colleague. Nobody can understand it,” say sources from Ferraz, who add that the party leadership will not openly confront him.

“The federal leadership cannot and should not do anything. Three days before a Congress it makes no sense to start a war, that is my opinion. Another thing is what the militants say. The federal leadership is not going to do anything. I don’t know about the PSM,” adds a senior party official.

Lobato had called the press for an “institutional statement” at 9:30 in the morning and everything suggested his departure. But it has not been like that. Lobato continues even after this Monday he acknowledged that he registered before a notary a conversation with Pilar Sánchez Acera, Chief of Staff of Minister Óscar López, about the alleged leak of the email that Isabel Díaz Ayuso’s partner sent to the Prosecutor’s Office recognizing his double tax fraud .

Both Ferraz and his party colleagues learned of Lobato’s decision from the press, since the news of the registration was published by ABC, and this generated strong discomfort in both the PSOE and the Government. “I don’t see what the problem is with proving the legal origin of that communication,” Lobato said at a press conference, defending the registration at the notary and casting doubt on what he was told from Moncloa.

“It was the media, as I was told,” who published the aforementioned email. “What’s the problem? I don’t see any problem, the other way around, the other way around. Now, given the reaction, as I say, of some leaders of my party, it seems as if in some way there was doubt about the veracity of what I was told there. I certainly don’t consider this, I don’t consider that what I was told was false, that it was false that the origin of that documentation was the media, because this would be quite serious,” he concluded.

Madrid socialists also point out that the last few hours have been critical for Lobato and there are internal movements and calls between officials to force his departure. At this point, the various sources consulted admit to Europa Press that the party’s leadership at the national level is also playing its cards “to bring him down.”
