A total of 50,326,000 euros. This is the global figure that is included in the Teruel City Council Budget project for 2025. An exercise that, above all, is marked by the items destined for social measures and housing, as well as to incorporate more friendly areas in the city through green spaces and for coexistence with pets, among other elements.
Within the project presented, a game of 10,716,407.51 euros for social policies. For example, an emergency social assistance service will be incorporated and home help will be expanded on weekends next year. Also Aid for children in daycare centers increases by 67% to reach a greater number of families and promote the reconciliation of work and family life.
The concurrent grants are another of the pillars of the 2025 Budget project for which 616,833 euros have been allocated compared to the 457,350 euros allocated in the 2021 financial year, as well as the policies to facilitate the access to housing. In this field, the new line of rental subsidies for single-parent families worth 30,000 euros stands out.
In terms of housing, a line of aid for housing is also established. housing rehabilitation worth 100,000 euros for those owners who have empty apartments, but are committed to putting them up for long-term rental. The objective of the measure is to put empty apartments on the rental market to increase supply and lower prices. In addition, this line of rehabilitation will contribute to generating more employment in construction, explains Emma Buj, mayor of Teruel.
The Budget project includes a 53% increase in emergency aid for those people with specific problems paying their rent. Rental aid will also continue to be provided to those affected by building number 21 on San Francisco Street.
Specific items are intended to ensure that Teruel has more green areas. For example, 250,000 euros are contemplated to refurbish the Parque de Las Tradiciones, in the area of Los Alfares, with a new leisure area with traditional games from Teruel. New areas for dogs and cats will also be launched with a budget of 115,000 euros.
Within the budgets, other items stand out such as 30,000 euros in video surveillance cameras as a deterrent measure against vandalism, as well as an allocation of 20,000 euros for a new civil protection application.
The year 2025 will also see works in Teruel such as the second phase of the COAM to create a mini-residence for social uses, the new headquarters of the Local Police in the Polígono Sur or the remodeling of Campo Pinilla.
For accessibility of the streets there will be more than 1.6 million euros, while the maintenance of infrastructure 1.2 million euros will be allocated. Other planned actions are Tourism Sustainability Planapart from the performances in the Network of Smart Tourist Destinations with an amount of just over 1.1 million euros, among other actions. The chapter of investments amounts to more than 13.5 million euros.
