In November, Social Security allocated the record figure of 12,941 million euros to the payment of the ordinary monthly payroll of contributory pensions, almost 7% more than in the same month of 2023, and to that amount we must add the extra pay that is charged this month and to which it has dedicated 12,624.2 million euros, as reported this Tuesday by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration.
This being the case, and pushed by the 3.8% increase in contributory pensions, The ordinary monthly pension payroll sets a new record after exceeding €12 billion for the first time in June.
All this means that, on average, the retirement pension, which more than two-thirds of all pensioners (6.4 million people) receive, stands at 1,448.8 euros per month, after increasing by 5.2%. compared to the same period in 2023. Regarding the extraordinary pay, in turn, the average is 1,428.5 euros.
Adding the ordinary and extra payroll, Social Security allocated in November 25,565 million to pay pensionsabove the nearly 24 billion last year.
By sections, of the 12,941 million euros invested in contributory pensions, three quarters (73.1%) were allocated to retirements (9,467.1 million euros), 7.1% more than in November of the year past.
Widow’s pensions, for their part, absorbed 2,114.8 million (+5.2%); permanent disability benefits, 1,153.6 million (+9.3%); those of orphans, 170.8 million (+4.7%); and benefits for family members, 34.4 million (+7.6%).
More than 6.5 million retirement pensions
The Ministry also offers data by amount of pensions paid. In November of this year, 10,263,079 contributory pensions were paid, almost 1.6% more than a year ago, to 9.3 million pensioners.
Of the total pensions, in turn, more than 6.5 million were retirement pensions; 2.35 million were widow’s pensions; 989,767 were permanently disabled; 339,497 were orphan’s pensions, and 46,266, in favor of family members. By sex, of the total number of pensioners (9,287,290 as of November 1 of this year), 4.7 million are men and 4.6 million are women.
The main pension received is retirement for 6.4 million people, of which 60% are men; widowhood benefit is the main benefit for 1.5 million people (95.8% are women); permanent disability is the main pension for 985,333 pensioners; that of orphans for 321,398 people, and that of favor of relatives for 45,705 pensioners.
