The Chunta Aragonesista deputy in Congress and deputy spokesperson for Sumar, Jorge Pueyohas started a hunger strike, which will last at least four days, in support of a group of Aragonese activists who have stopped eating food in the last week to denounce the famine suffered by the Palestinian people in Gaza.
At a press conference in Congress, the deputy spokesperson for the plurinational group also indicated that out of solidarity with the “brave” gesture of these activists, he “lead by example«and supports this hunger strike to support people who put their »own body« to denounce the situation in Gaza.
Specifically, on November 19, six activists began this fast at the Zaragoza headquarters of Casa Palestine Aragón, with the aim of making visible the need to break diplomatic relations with Israelas Chunta defends, and denounce the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories.
“This fight already goes far beyond the physical, it is an act of resistance against a system that violates human rights every day,” he explained to emphasize that the Palestinian prime minister. The Palestinian Prime Minister, Mohammad Mustafahas sent them an emotional message for their decision to undertake this hunger strike.
Just water and infusions
Pueyo has explained that from today he joins this fast that ““It’s not a gesture, it’s a commitment.” and that their duty is to support themselves with this hunger strike until it ends. “The leading role belongs to the strikers and in no case do I or anyone else, we simply adhere to that hunger strike,” he concluded to insist that in the face of the “genocide” in Gaza “you cannot look the other way.”
The Chunta deputy, as explained by his team, will only drink water and infusions during his fast, which will be displayed, at a minimum, until next friday given that the protesters’ idea is to end the hunger strike after a demonstration in support of Palestine. If this protest action by activists continues, Pueyo will also prolong it.
