The Department of Education of the Government of Navarra has provisionally suspended a professor from the Higher Conservatory of Navarra, located in Pamplona, who made sexual proposals to a student through social networks. In addition, a disciplinary file will be opened against another teacher at the center, who is currently on leave, after having been reported to the Conservatory management by several students for making sexist and sexist comments in the classroom.
As advanced ‘Navarra Diary’ and elDiario.es has been able to confirm from sources in the Department of Education, the teacher has been suspended on a precautionary basis after learning that the student had filed a complaint with the National Police in which she said that the teacher contacted her through private messages on social networks in which he made “very explicit” sexual propositions. According to him, she did not respond and after a while he made the same propositions again. In addition, he assured that the relationship in the classroom changed once the teacher became aware of the complaint. At first the Conservatory opened a disciplinary file against him, so he continued working at the center, but last Friday it was decided to suspend him as a precautionary measure.
“The director has gone ahead and applied all the protocols that exist in the event of a complaint of this severity,” the Department of Education highlights in conversation with this newspaper.
In parallel, the Navarra Higher Conservatory of Music has announced that it is going to open another disciplinary file against another teacher after several students have reported to the new management of the center that he made sexist and sexist comments in the classroom. The Department points out that the teacher is currently on leave but that when he returns, a file will be opened to investigate the reported events.
This Tuesday the students of this higher music center, where more than 300 people study, have called for a sit-in as a sign of protest against these events.
