Officials from the Madrid PSOE sentence Lobato and ask him to resign before Friday

Madrid socialism is singing. Several officials from the PSOE of Madrid do not hide their discomfort with the regional secretary general, Juan Lobato, for taking his conversation with Pilar Sánchez Acera, chief of staff of Minister Óscar López, before a notary, and they consider that it is a mistake that will cost the charge immediately. Some believe that even before the 41st Federal Congress that is held in Seville and begins this Friday.

And going to the notary’s office is an exercise that “no one understands”, in addition to “a betrayal” that is undermining his image among the party’s bases, to the point that there are those who believe it is likely that in the next few hours he will lose the support of more than half of the regional Executive. This last point would have no organic significance, since a modification of the statutes subsequent to the famous Federal Committee of 2016 that dragged Pedro Sánchez to resignation modified the article that established the creation of a management company if half plus one of the management resigned.

Madrid socialists also point out that the last few hours have been critical for Lobato and there are internal movements and calls between officials to force his departure. At this point, the various sources consulted admit to Europa Press that the party’s leadership at the national level is also playing its cards “to bring him down.”

A leader of the Madrid federation, less critical of Lobato, regrets that this episode serves as an excuse for Moncloa and Ferraz to try to “kill him” and points out that they are putting pressure to reduce their internal support in the community as much as possible. The political storm has been unleashed after Lobato claimed that Moncloa sent him an email with the details of the boyfriend of the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso. She also admitted that she went to a notary’s office to record a conversation with Sánchez Acera last March, when she was López’s chief of staff, who at that time was Pedro Sánchez’s chief of staff.

Lobato has defended that he went to the notary to prove that the information he had and that he used against Ayuso in the parliamentary debate of the Madrid Assembly, came from the media and not from a leak from the Prosecutor’s Office, in the middle of a judicial investigation for revelation of secrets that affects the attorney general himself. However, the Madrid PSOE considers that she has given the image of “selling her own”, since Sánchez Acera is part of the party’s leadership in Madrid as Institutional Secretary and speaks with her regularly to prepare the control sessions to the Ayuso Executive, as he himself has indicated.

In this sense, they indicate that it is the most serious mistake he has made, and that “he has screwed up to a point that can no longer be removed.” They also assume that in the next few hours there will be a mass resignation in the regional Executive that forces Lobato to step aside, although the statutory regulations do not force him.

The most critical think that he should resign immediately because it is not possible for him to lead the Madrid delegation to the 41st Federal Congress that begins on Friday, November 29 in Seville. In this sense, they indicate that he has lost the confidence of the majority of the party and cannot represent the militants under these conditions. They also point out that he will not have the strength to place officials from Madrid at the top of the party at the federal level.

And all this occurs at a time when Ferraz welcomed the hypothetical candidacy of Óscar López for the general secretary in the next regional congress and his subsequent candidacy for the Community of Madrid. The PSOE-M interprets Lobato’s decision to go to the notary as an attempt to shield himself from the federal leadership when the time comes and which has clearly turned against him.
