A man killed his wife early this Sunday in Estepa (Seville) and then committed suicide. The events occurred in a house on Granada Street around 10:30 p.m. The bodies have already been transferred to the Institute of Legal Medicine of Seville. The Civil Guard has taken charge of the investigation.
As reported by the mayor of the town, Antonio Jesús Muñoz, in statements to Europa Press, “the couple had two minor children, 17 and 11 years old, respectively.” In addition, he has conveyed the dismay of the neighbors since, “they were a humble and hard-working family, well-known in Estepa.” In this sense, the mayor stressed that it was an event “that was not expected, and that no previous complaints had been registered.”
It was the youngest of the two children (11 years old), present at the time in the house, who notified a relative of what happened, according to Diario de Sevilla reported. The murder would have been carried out using a shotgun.
This is the second sexist murder committed in the province of Seville so far this year, after last August a man stabbed his wife to death in the Pino Montano neighborhood. The alleged aggressor later injured himself and was arrested by the National Police.
The mayor has stated that official mourning will be declared in the municipality and that the Civil Guard has taken charge of the investigation.
