The Swiss authorities have suspended the export of weapons to Poland due to the risk that Swiss weapons end up in Ukraine after more than 600,000 pieces of small-caliber ammunition from the country have been found on Ukrainian territory.
The State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) of Switzerland has thus indicated that Exports to Polish companies are suspended for the moment due to the risk it poses, which is “too high” and would constitute a violation of Swiss legislation, which prohibits the export of military material to countries involved in armed conflicts.
This policy is part of Switzerland’s commitment to neutrality.although the authorities have been supporting the sanctions packages imposed by the European Union against Russia since the start of the war almost three years ago.
The measure has been adopted after Swiss media reported that Ukraine had received some 645,000 cartridges of rifle ammunition manufactured by the Swiss company SwissP through a Polish importer.
