The Andalusian Rowing Federation has a new president as of this Saturday, November 23, in the figure of Fernando Briones Pérez de la Blanca. A 55-year-old lawyer and tax advisor from Seville, the new head of the FAR accepts the position after serving as vice president for the last four years with Miguel Ángel Millánwhich picks up the baton for the Olympic cycle that will conclude in Los Angeles 2028.
Fernando Briones, member of a historical saga of Seville rowing in which his father, Eduardo Briones Espinosaalready president of the Andalusian Rowing Federation from 1981 to 1988, and his brother Henry participated in the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, assumed the presidency after receiving the unanimity of the votes of the FA AssemblyR. And he has done so as the only candidate in the electoral process that began last July and concluded this week.
On a personal note, in his time as an athlete, the new president of the Andalusian Federation achieved numerous successes at the regional level and He accumulated two golds, five silvers and three bronzes in the Spanish Championships with the Club Náutico Sevillaof which he is a partner and with whom he continues to compete occasionally in the veterans category. And with the Spanish team he competed in several international regattas and even became part of the Barcelona 92 Programfocused on the Olympic Games, which he had to abandon to focus on his academic training.
