As always around this time, the Falangists have held events in Madrid in memory of their ideologue, José Antonio Primo de Rivera. Last year they tried to incite the mobilizations against the PSOE at the Ferraz headquarters with little success in the heat of the protests against Pedro Sánchez and the amnesty, but this year they have also focused on the PP, taking the opportunity to question the management of the catastrophe due to the DANA of Valencia.
The march started very close to the popular headquarters in Genoa, with a warrior speech by a youth leader, inflamed by the desire for “the restoration of the empire” and the highly applauded symbolism of the yoke and arrows, “forged in the eternal fire of the Spanish race.” Then the walk began, with an initial stop in front of the PP headquarters. “The Valencians died drowning while it was not known who had the competition,” shouted into the megaphone Norberto Pico, leader of the Spanish Falange of the JONS, one of the minority Falangist formations that survive among the various divisions and branches of the parent company.
The ‘Face to the sun’ was heard through the streets of Madrid, although the demonstration was a minority and barely occupied half a road along the façade of the PP building. Among the participants there were, of course, many energetic young people, who from time to time lit flares and who confronted a boy who was recording the march near the Ruiz Jiménez roundabout. A police officer unwisely pushed him away, so that the boy fell down the stairs of the subway entrance spectacularly, but without hurting himself much, according to what he himself reassured witnesses. His name is Pablo Nahuel and he claims that he thought the protesters were soccer fans.
“Pedro Sánchez, son of a bitch” was joined tonight by “Ayuso, clown, the menas to your house.” By the time the expedition arrived in Ferraz, after clamoring, among other things, for “social aid for nationals,” there were five people waiting on the corner with Marqués de Urquijo. There was then another moment for oratory. Manuel Andrino, leader of Falange España (not to be confused with the others), charged against the PSOE and celebrated the attacks on Pedro Sánchez, Mazón and the kings during their visit to Paiporta: “They had what they deserved and little happened to them.”
Since the approval of the democratic memory law, followers of fascism have had to measure their speeches to avoid sanctions for denigrating the victims of Franco’s regime, which is why the organization once again reminded that no flags other than the official ones were accepted. Some disobeyed and raised the Francoist banner. At the close of the event, a cloth with Mussolini’s image also came to light. But the majority complied and the demonstration ended at 11:00 p.m., with a half-hour margin on the original schedule. The first national police vans began to leave after ten minutes. On a terrace on the road, glass of beer in hand, a middle-aged man shouted: “You are the STASI, bastards.”
