Businessman Víctor de Aldama does not have a problem with Justice. He has two. The first, due to the hydrocarbons plot, a massive tax fraud that Judge Santiago Pedraz is investigating in Central Court number 5 of the National Court. The modus operandi was relatively simple: the scheme used fictitious companies that sold gasoline and diesel to gas stations at a lower price. Then those companies disappeared and left taxes unpaid. In total, the Prosecutor’s Office estimates that they defrauded 182 million euros with this system.
The second problem with Víctor de Aldama’s Justice also occurs in the National Court, but in another court: Central Court number 2. It is a much more media case of corruption, even though the figures are not so huge. There, Judge Ismael Moreno investigates the Koldo plot: the bribes in mask contracts and other shenanigans that implicate former Minister José Luis Abalos and Koldo García, his main advisor.
