Nails 5,000 peoplemostly teachers but also studentsaccording to the Government Delegation in Madrid and the organizers, have demonstrated this Thursday to demand improvements in Madrid public education in a new day of strike called by the majority unions in the sector.
The strike has had a follow-up of 17.8%according to the Ministry of Educationand of more than 70%according to their promoters, CCOO, ANPE, CSIF and UGTwho will decide their next actions after the scheduled meeting with the Madrid Administration on November 29.
The protestpresided over by a banner with the motto For teachers, for public educationhas passed without incident from the Plaza de Neptuno to the Puerta del Sol and the Less Lectivas Assembly has joined it, from Atocha.
During the march, enlivened by a batucada and for a music bandattendees have chanted slogans such as “Ayuso’s patio is particular, if you don’t have money you can’t enter. Crouch, crouch again, if Ayuso sees you you will have to pay.”
The participants, many of them dressed in green t-shirts, sweatshirts and scarves in defense of public schools, displayed posters that read “Fighting teachers are also teaching”, “Fewer weapons, more books” or ” “Fewer tax gifts for the rich, more public education for everyone.”
The protest has been joined by workers at private and indirectly managed nursery schools in the Community of Madrid who today have gone on strike to demand decent working conditions and the recognition of the stage from zero to three years as the basis of the educational process for the integral development of people.
The unions demand the reduction of school hours to 18 hours in Vocational Training, ESO and Special Educationalready 23 hours in Infant and Primarythe freedom to choose hours in the centers, salary equalization, the reduction of ratios, the provision of the necessary quotas to address diversity and a shock plan against bureaucracy.
