Save It is one of the tasks that can be most difficult in adult life, when the person becomes responsible for all their expenses and must face payments such as rent, housing supplies, leisure and being able to deal with unforeseen events.
There are many methods that seek formulas to save on a daily basis until a substantial amount is accumulated. Likewise, there are many parents trying to explain to their children the value and cost of things from a young age so that they acquire certain notions as their age advances.
A mother shares the savings method she uses with her son
A TikTok account called @cajahorro has shared the method that a mother has used with her children for this purpose. This woman assured that her son 12 years he had managed to save 10,000 euros and faced with the disbelief of some users of the social network, he wanted to explain how he achieved it.
«My children have a salary of 100 euros for doing chores around the house,” the video begins. However, they do not keep that entire amount.
This mother ‘cobra’ of that amount 50 euros as “rent, food and electricity”the distribution being 10, 20 and 20 euros, respectively.
«They put the 50 euros that they left over towards your savings», he points out. When asked at what age he began to apply this method, he answers that it was when they had a “basic knowledge of mathematics” and that moment was when they were seven years old.
“If they can’t pay the rent, they can earn extra money by doing more chores at home,” he says. On the other hand, of the 50 euros of savings, they could only spend 20 euros per month, while “80% goes to your savings account”.
The reason why these parents have decided to do this with their children is “to teach them to manage their money and get used to real life.”
The publication has gone viral and in one day it has received more than 300,000 likes and hundreds of comments, both for and against.
On the one hand, there are those who believe that it is too much “stress” for such young children, while others value the importance of financial education.
There are also those who believe that household chores “should be done because they also live there and we have to collaborate” and not in exchange for money. In the debate between defenders and detractors, there are those who have expressed their opinion more forcefully in the comments: “People don’t find out even if you explain it 200 times, it seems like a good system to me, they will learn to work, earn money, “spend carefully and save.”
