Jaguar has surprised everyone and everyone with the way it has revealed certain details of its ‘new’ brand, such as what will be its updated emblem. The ‘new’ Jaguar is on everyone’s lips today. However, although they have already confirmed that they have turned the page, the ‘old’ Jaguar is still present for one reason or another. The last one has come thanks to the discovery of an electric car that never came to market.
Specifically, it has been the 100% electric version of the Jaguar XJ. Back in 2019, it was known that the British brand was preparing this version. However, despite the fact that its development was being carried out, testing on roads with convenient camouflage or with already quite advanced engineering, the leadership of the brand cut off the progress of the project and closed everything that had to do with it. electric car.
At the time, Jaguar admitted that its cancellation had come after “an exhaustive technological review of the market in the face of exponential change in the industry in the coming years. Well, This car does not fit with our brand vision”, they stated.
This could have been the definitive electric Jaguar
Of that model, Jaguar never published images, prototypes or renders, as its goal was to launch it around the year 2022, which would have meant a change in the aesthetics of the XJ that was known at that time and its focus was on perfecting its electrical mechanics. A few years later, Jaguar shelved its vehicle range and began to focus on its new 100% electric offering, of which the first vehicle will be unveiled on December 2, 2024.
Now, an image has been leaked of what this would have been likeJaguar XJ-E’ 100% electric. On the front you can see a strong inspiration from the Jaguar I-Pace, the only electric car launched by the brand so far. In general terms, the XJ-E would retain the main lines of the gasoline

The rest of the elements remain a complete mystery, since no details have been published about its rear, its cabin or even what its electrical mechanics would be. However, regarding the latter, everything indicates that it could have the same one that the I-Pace already offered, although suitably revised to provide the electric sedan with greater performance.
As is well known, this Jaguar XJ-E will not reach the market per sebut the brand is already preparing a range of new ‘zero emissions’ models. This will consist of a ‘super-GT’ that will be unveiled in December, a luxury SUV and a saloon as the crown jewel. The latter, precisely, could be the closest we will see to an XJ-E that never officially existed.
