Storm Shadow, designed to attack “fixed or stationary targets such as reinforced bunkers or other infrastructure”, is capable of operating both day and night and with any adverse weather conditions that may occur.
The company also highlights on its website its attack capacity and high precision, which is due to an “advanced navigation system that combines INS, GPS and terrain reference.” “Enemy ground air defenses are avoided through sophisticated mission planning and a great scope,” he indicates.
After being launched – they explain from MBDA – “the weapon descends to an altitude that adapts to the terrain to avoid detection». In this sense, this projectile has a “high survivability”, which is achieved thanks to a “wide range of safety distance” and “low observability.”
“As you approach the target, its onboard infrared seeker matches the image of the target with the stored one to ensure a precision attack and a minimal collateral damage», states the company, which also adds that the warhead can detonate in the air or explode after an impact or penetrate the target.
