SITAR. This is the name behind which the Tourist Intelligence System of Aragon. Based on Big Data and Artificial intelligenceits objective is to promote competitiveness and sustainability within the sector thanks to the fact that large volumes of data can be converted into useful information.
The system, promoted by the general directorate of Tourism and Hospitality and Tourism of Aragon, will make it easier for a user to access a dashboard in which filter and obtain the information what he wants
SITAR, which will be enabled on November 25 on the Aragón Tourism website, will also provide a section for downloadable reports in PDF classified by different areas: Aragón, Zaragoza, Huesca and Teruel.
With these functions SITAR will start, although the intention is that more dashboards with relevant information will be launched from the processing of the data. data obtained from open data sources or acquired from suppliers.
The sector will also be able to access this data from SITAR, in which the Technological Institute of Aragon has collaborated, to improve its decision-making and management.
This system has an investment of 500,000 euros for this year, while in 2025 a similar amount will be allocated to advance the collection, processing, analysis and visualization of relevant information in the tourism sector through a Business Intelligence model.
This in turn will make it easier to predictive and diagnostic analysis to make better decisionsoptimize management, improve the usability of data and the reaction capacity of the different tourism actors, promoting the sustainability and competitiveness of the sector since, for example, managers will be able to adapt their services and promotion strategies to address the specific audiences.
SITAR will also facilitate the personalization of offers and services, improving the visitor experience by taking into account their preferences and the behavior of tourists.
SITAR’s functions go even further because, in a crisis situation, it will provide a reaction capacity to quickly identify the impact and adjustment of strategies. A highlight of the system is that it will help identify saturation or wear patterns in destinations to take measures to reduce the environmental impact and preserve the attractiveness of the tourist place.
“We want to make this data available to the entire sector, which will allow us to improve decision-making and management,” says the Minister of Environment and Tourism, Manuel Blasco, during the presentation of SITAR. “Only very powerful autonomous communities have a similar tool,” adds the general director of Tourism and Hospitality, Jorge Moncada.
