“New. Strong!” is written in huge letters on a stage screen. In front of it, a man in a black T-shirt and black jacket is talking himself into a rage, today for once not with his sleeves rolled up. At this moment, however, Robert Habeck seems somewhat out of place next to the slogan. The Vice Chancellor isn’t exactly new anyway. And strong? There were great doubts in the summer, says Habeck, as to whether he should really run for office or rather step down from the stage. Because the weakness of the Greens was also due to him. “I know that I have also lost trust,” says Habeck. And admits for the first time that he, too, “was thinking about withdrawing.”
