The National Association of Perfumery and Cosmetics, Stanpa, has delivered today at its headquarters in Madrid the III Cosmetic Industry Journalism Awardsan initiative that seeks to recognize the work carried out by information professionals who, in a rigorous manner, cover current events in this sector. ABC journalist Laura Montero Carretero has been awarded in the innovation category with her work ‘The aroma of AI efficiency permeates the perfumery sector’, published in the ABC Empresa supplement on July 28.
The jury valued the clarity and rigor with which the journalist has explored the technological revolution that is transforming the perfume industry.
Laura Montero Carretero graduated in Journalism from the Complutense University of Madrid and obtained the Extraordinary Degree Award. In addition, he completed the ABC-UCM Master of Journalism and Digital Communication. After working in the Economics section, where she wrote about banking, since 2019 she has been an editor for the ABC Business Supplement. This award is added to others won by the journalist in recent months, such as the José Echegaray Communication and Dissemination Award for the Person, awarded by the Spanish Engineering Institute (IIE) and the Foundation for the Promotion of Industrial Innovation (F2i2), and recognition as a finalist in the Journalism Awards on aviation, aeronautical and space information in Spanish, organized by Aviación Digital.
The winning piece in the sector situation analysis category was ‘Hoaxes that revolve around the sun’, by Patricia Rodríguez, published in the newspaper ‘El País’. In the sustainability category, Loreto Fernández and Juan Andrés, journalist and audiovisual reporter respectively, from RTVE in Galicia, have been awarded for their work ‘Oncolóxic Aesthetics – A beauty that empowers’.
In this third edition, a record call has been registered with the presentation of 117 applications in total, a 63% more than the previous one. «These awards reflect the sector’s conviction that communication is key and that, therefore, good information deserves to be rewarded. Our commitment is clear and, proof of this, is that for this third edition we have practically doubled the financial allocation, worth 11,500 euros, with the aim of recognize excellence in journalistic work “which revolves around the industry,” explained Val Díez, general director of Stanpa, during the awards ceremony.
The jury of this edition, led by Val Díez and Clara Pi, general director and communication director, respectively, of Stanpa, has been chaired by Miguel Ángel Noceda, President of FAPE, and has included leading profiles from the field of communication and journalism as Mary KingPresident of the APM; Emilio de BenitoVice President of ANIS; Yolanda AusinGeneral Director of ARI; Mar ManriqueHead of Fleet Street and co-founder of WATIF and Marta Fernández FolgueiraDirector of Corporate Affairs at LLYC. During the deliberation on November 11, they pointed out the challenge that the selection of the finalists has presented this year due to the high level of the works presented, which increases year after year.
