Marc Márquez already thinks and feels in red. The first day with the official Ducati motorcycle, the new GP25, with its new crew led by the chief mechanic Marco Rigamonti (inherited from Enea Bastianini), and with a new neighbor, Pecco Bagnaia, left the man from Cervera with comforting sensations. “Confidence is high and I will try to maintain it at the start of the season,” said a Márquez who admits the leap in quality and demand.
These were the feelings he expressed at the end of his debut with the official Ducati in the first preseason test of 2025 at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, in which he set the 4th best time of the 24 riders.
Sensations
“The important thing is that the feelings with the team have been good, I have felt comfortable from the beginning”
Everything red is the new motto he wore in his debut as an official Ducati rider. “Everything in the red is what remains, I made a risky bet a year ago and finishing finishing in the factory team was the best news. The important thing is that the feelings with the team have been good, I have felt comfortable from the beginning. Not changing factories or motorcycles, and knowing many engineers, has made me feel very comfortable in the garage, with peace of mind all day. I have been able to work again like a factory does, with a planning very strict and set with things to test. In an official team you feel more responsibility.”
the first time
“Last year on my debut with Ducati Gresini I was more ‘flan’, this time I was calmer, I felt very comfortable”
It was inevitable to compare this first time in red with other first times on motorcycles. “The hardest, logically, is the first time with a MotoGP machine [en noviembre del 2012]it is the time when you are most nervous, you don’t know where to take it. The one that was the most flavourful was last year, with Gresini’s Ducati. This time I was very calm, from the first outing I felt comfortable. “When you don’t change bikes, it makes everything easier for you and it’s simply an evolution.”
From GP23 to GP25
“I think the Ducati GP25 is more competitive, but we have to see it”
How much does the bike change from 2023 to that of 2025? “I have changed from the GP23 to the GP25, two years straight, because the bike being new always requires more time to tune it up. I have ever jumped to 24. They are a little different, the rear devicethe sensations. More competitive I think so, but we have to see.
Switching to factory equipment
“On the official Ducati I feel more pressure and more responsibility, you are forced to fight for the front positions”
“Being in a factory team means more pressure and more responsibility for me, and you are forced to fight for the front positions, and even more so when you join the team that has achieved better results in recent years. We will try to do it as best as possible. Confidence is high and I will try to maintain it at the beginning of the year.”
