The Catalan soprano Enriqueta Tarreswho throughout his career stepped on the stages of great theaters such as the Liceu, Covent Garden, the Vienna Opera and the Metropolitan Opera in New York, He died at ninety years of ageas announced by the Gran Teatre del Liceu.
Through its social networks, the Barcelona institution has recalled that Tarrés was “one of the great voices of our country”born in Barcelona on March 17, 1934, a singer who “shined” on different stages around the world, “with a unique career in opera, lied and oratorio.”
Student at the Barcelona Municipal Conservatory with Concepció Callao, he won a singing prize from the Barcelona City Council as well as the Grand Prix International de Chant de Tolouse, in 1955.
He furthered his studies in Italy and in 1957 debuted at the Liceu with Splendor and, shortly after, he was part of the stable companies of the opera houses of Basel, Wuppertal, Hamburg and East Berlin.
In 1986 the opera premiered in the Rambla arena. Oedipus and Iocasteby Josep Soler, and, a year later, he participated as a soloist in the inaugural concert at the Palacio de la Música in Valencia.
