The National Police has arrested 40 people in 23 provinces by tenure, production and distribution of child pornography, among them a man who acted as a “producer of illicit material” using minor victims from his family environment.
As reported by the authorities in a press release, five victims of the arrested person have been identified, confirming that the detainee took advantage of minors in his work environment to create photos and videos of child sexual content.
More than 200 agents from all over Spain and more than 60 records in 32 different provinces. As a result of the searches carried out, the agents have seized 58 mobile phones, 19 computers, 37 hard drives and USB drives, six tablets and numerous storage devices.
There have been ten arrests in the provinces of Madrid and Barcelonafive in each, while another six have occurred in Balearic Islands and Valenciawith three in each case.
The rest have taken place in Lleida, Cadiz, Malaga, Grenade and Sevillewith two arrests in each provinceand Tarragona, Cantabria, Jaén, Las Palmas, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Ciudad Real, Araba, Bizkaia, Toledo, Ceuta, A Coruña, Navarra, Zamora and Alacant, with one in each case.
Of the 40 detainees, three are minors. In addition, there are another 13 people under investigation who have not been detained thanks to the investigation initiated by specialized agents of the Central Cybercrime Unit and that has been coordinated with the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Computer Crime.
Others arrested are a 20 year old woman who had numerous pedophile content found on her mobile phone, specifically in an instant messaging application, as well as a man who had been sentenced in 2023 to prison sentence for a crime against the sexual freedom of a minor under 16 years of age. In the search of his home, the agents found thousands of files of child sexual material.
The investigation remains open waiting to locate and arrest three other suspects who are abroadfor which international police cooperation mechanisms have been initiated through Europol and Interpol.
