The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health raised the death toll to four, including a woman, as the final toll of victims in the attack that Israel launched this Sunday against the headquarters of the Baath party, in the center of Beirut. The operation also claimed the lives of Mohamed Afif, media officer for the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah.
The Public Health Emergency Operations Center, under the ministry, announced that “the Israeli enemy’s incursion into Ras al Nabaa ultimately resulted in the death of four people, including a woman, and caused injuries to 14 others, including two children,” according to a statement published in the last few hours.
Likewise, Hezbollah confirmed the death of Afif, a non-military figure in the group, whom it praised as a “leader” in his work as a media spokesperson. In his statement, he stated that Afif joined as a “martyr” his companions and the previous leader, Hasan Nasrallah, the movement’s top political and military official, who died in another bombing in Beirut in September. For its part, the Israeli Army assured that it killed Afif in a “precise” bombing.
After the action against Afif, Israel launched another attack against Mar Elias Street, located in west Beirut, in which At least two people died and 22 others were injuredaccording to the ministry. It is currently unknown who was the target of this attack.
In addition, at least 11 people have died and 48 more have been injured in attacks carried out this Sunday by the Israeli Army against the Lebanese district of Tirein southwestern Lebanon, according to local authorities.
The Emergency Operations Center of the Lebanese Ministry of Health has denounced bombings against health services and workers, “disregarding international laws, regulations and humanitarian charters”, which has left two paramedics dead and two others injured in at least three attacks in Beirut.
This Sunday was one of the most violent days against the Lebanese capital since the incessant Israeli bombing campaign against Lebanon began on September 23.
Almost 3,500 people have died since the crossfire between Israel and Hezbollah began on October 8, 2023 – one day after the start of the war in the Gaza Strip – although the vast majority of victims have occurred in the last two months.
The genocide continues in Gaza: 111 dead this Sunday
The continuous attacks carried out by the Israeli Army this Sunday in several areas of the Gaza Strip, especially in the north of the enclave, have left at least 111 dead, among them women and children.
Local sources have told the Palestinian news agency Wafa that the most intense bombings have taken place in the center and north of the Strip, with a total of ten “violent” raids in which the Army has used “tons” of explosives against residential buildings, schools and shelters for displaced people.
Thus, 72 of the total of 111 fatalities have died in the Al Shati refugee camp in Gaza City and in Beit Lahia, in the north of the Strip.
The Israeli bombings in the Gaza Strip have already left almost 43,850 dead and more than 103,700 injuredaccording to the latest balance provided this Sunday morning by the authorities of the Palestinian enclave, under the control of the Islamist movement Hamas.
As usual, the Ministry reminds that these figures are only an approximation because a number of victims that cannot be determined are buried under tons of rubble caused by the bombings. Furthermore, Gazan authorities have stated on several occasions that at least 10,000 people are listed as missing.
