Jorge Martín (Ducati Desmosedici GP24) is one step away from becoming MotoGP world champion for the first time. The Spaniard’s calculations work out and he only needs to achieve his eighth victory in a sprint race. Something that seems quite feasible because he is the driver who has won the most and has been on the podium throughout the season (seven wins, six seconds and two thirds).
The sprint race awards 12 points to the winner and nine to the second place, so, if he wins on Saturday, the Spaniard from Madrid would add three points more than his only rival for the title, the Italian Francesco ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia (Ducati Desmosedici GP24) , assuming he finished second. Right now, he has a cushion of 24 points.
If he achieves this, the rider from San Sebastián de los Reyes would achieve his great dream after finishing second in 2023. It would be his second achievement in his career, after achieving the Moto3 world title in 2018.
