More than a hundred of the fatalities caused by DANA in Valencia were at least 70 years old, practically half of the total number of deaths. This is revealed by the official balance of the Data Integration Center (CID) made public this Thursday by the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community, which shows that 104 of the 216 deaths recorded in the province they were over 70 years old.
That is one of the most significant conclusions of the CID report, which has analyzed in detail the victims registered so far due to the catastrophe of last October 29.
Of those 104 deaths who were over 70 years old, there are 15 who had already turned 90 and another 52 who were over 80 years oldwith the 80-90 age group reflecting the highest number of victims. The mobility problems of older people, their lower capacity to react and the fact that many live on ground floors due to their greater accessibility explain why the elderly have been the most affected by this DANA.
The report, however, It also reflects that 9 minors have diedseven of them who had not yet turned 11 years old, while the oldest was 16 years old. The rest of the deaths fall into the following age groups:
- + 60 years: 33
- + 50 years: 38
- + 40 years: 16
- + 30 years: 6
- + 20 years: 10
The majority of those killed have been men (131 compared to 85 women), while There are victims of up to 12 different nationalitieslogically the Spaniards being the ones who have died the most in this tragedy (190 deaths).
Of the 26 foreigners who have died, the majority were Romanians (9). The rest had the following nationalities: Morocco (4), China (4), United Kingdom (2), Ecuador (1), Venezuela (1), Ukraine (1), Holland (1), Tunisia (1), Colombia ( 1) and Paraguay (1).
Likewise, the report confirms that Paiporta has been ground zero for DANA as it is the municipality that concentrates the majority of the victimswith a total of 45 deaths (20.8% of the total). The second municipality with the most registered victims is Catarroja (25), followed by the city of Valencia (16) and Alfafar (15).
