The Valencian Cortes have suspended this Thursday’s plenary session, in which the appearance of the president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, in which he was going to give an account of the management carried out so far regarding the DANA that devastated part of the province of Valencia on October 29, as well as announce changes in his Government.
The plenary session that was scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Thursday will finally be held on Friday at 11:30 a.m. The decision has been made after the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has alert raised to red level in Valencia due to the risk of torrential rains from this Wednesday night until this Thursday.
This was announced by parliamentary sources after the agreement reached between the four political groups given the situation decreed by the Aemet. The extreme risk warning is already activated for the northern and southern coasts of Valencia due to the new cold drop that is already hitting practically the entire Mediterranean coast.
Aemet foresees a probability of accumulated precipitation of up to 180 liters per square meter (l/m2) in just 12 hours. The alert is active from 9:00 p.m. this Wednesday until 12:00 p.m. on Thursday and the moment of greatest meteorological “adversity” will be at dawn.
The state agency warns that the danger is “extreme” and the possibility of overflows of channels and floods. In this situation, ask for great caution and avoid travel.
