The mysterious publication of former basketball player Kyle Singler, 36, has shocked the basketball world. The now retired forward went through teams such as Real Madrid, Obradoiro, Lucentum Alicante, the Detroit Pistons and the Oklahoma City Thunder. The publication in question is a cryptic video on his Instagram account in which the American is seen in a deteriorated state in a half-lit room, explaining that he “fears for his life.”
Singler released the content on Tuesday morning, saying he feels he is being mistreated and silenced. “I need to make a statement because I feel like my voice is being silenced. I have been mistreated and abused. My community is screwed. I fear for my life every day. And the people in my community make me look like I’m going to be a troublemaker and make things difficult for people when all I’m trying to do is be helpful. “I feel like there is a purpose for not valuing or respecting me,” declared the American.
It didn’t take long for NBA figures to react, such as Kevin Love, a close friend of his, who called on Singler’s entire entourage in X to be close to him. “To everyone who has spent time with Kyle Singler and whose lives he has touched: please shower him with all the love and support he needs and deserves. I wouldn’t be who I am today without him. I am eternally indebted to him and I love him. To the NBA family, the Duke BB University family and the South Medford High School community: let’s support one of our own,” said the five-time NBA All-Star.
In the post itself, Love left the following comment: “I love you, Kyle. I’m here for whatever you need. Please”. In the same way, other NBA stars such as Isaiah Thomas or Andre Drummond sent a message of unconditional support to Singler in the same way. Thomas commented “I’m here for you, brother. Always and forever.” For his part, Drummond told him: “You are not alone, brother. “I’m here to help you.”
Yesterday afternoon he released another enigmatic post on Instagram, with similar claims. “I’ve been in this house for five years and it’s a hole. I have tried to bring my friends and family into this community to help me start a new career, a new life, and everyone has fooled me. (…) I have been held hostage in a certain situation and position, again to create false narratives about someone and people in general,” he added in the second video.
Kyle Singler, who was chosen as the 33rd pick in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons, played the last games of his career with the Iberostar Tenerife jersey, where he played his last game on October 15, 2019 against the Russian BC Nizhny Novgorod.
