Oriol Junqueras has assured that ERC will not enter the Catalan Government under the presidency of Salvador Illa this legislature, as long as he regains the leadership of the independence party and that, despite everything, he is a preferred partner of the socialists in Barcelona and Madrid with whom he has signed investiture and legislative agreements, respectively. This is what he promised Junqueras, this Tuesday, during the presentation of the program of her candidacy, Militància Decidim, together with the candidate who aspires to be general secretary, Elisenda Alamany.
The former president of ERC has also said that he will demand that the PSC comply with the agreements reached for Illa’s investiture: “If they do not comply, it is impossible for them to have our support in any area.” In this sense, Junqueras has insisted on a thesis that he has been defending for years and which consists of positioning ERC as “the best alternative” to the PSC. “We want to be a political force that plays a central role, that is a protagonist, that is the best alternative to the PSC, which at this moment accumulates too much power in too many institutional areas,” he indicated, according to Ep.
Regarding the proposals of his candidacy to regain the presidency of ERC, which will be played in a congress on November 30, above all, against an ‘official’ list that has the support of, among others, Marta Rovira and Pere Aragonès, He has assured that they are not only seeking to win the congress of a political formation that will have to “sew and re-sew”, he has acknowledged, but that he goes further, and has indicated that the Militància Decidim program “is aimed at ERC militancy, but also to the rest of society.”
Regarding the proposals of the candidacy of the Junqueras-Alamany tandem, the program includes, in relation to bad practices such as those of the cartels against the Maragall brothers and the structure parallel to the direction, the creation of a truth commission made up of five militant experts in different fields to conclude in three months “who is responsible and apply the appropriate sanctions”, where appropriate. And likewise, for example, it is proposed to convert the National Council into a “true party parliament.”
Junqueras asked about the possibility of his candidacy reaching an agreement with the ‘rovirista’ list, which he leads Xavier Godàs, The former president of ERC has assured that he is always available to all ERC militants. «All my willingness to talk to everyone and all my desire to reach agreements with all the ERC militancy. The best way to do it is with Congress,” he added, thus disdaining any real option of reaching an agreement that would involve who has to withdraw from the candidacy.
For its part, the Godàs candidacy, Nova Esquerra Nacional, has announced that starting today it is activating 100 “referent” people to hold around 500 events throughout the community before the congress. From the initiative it has been specified that among the people who will participate in these meetings are the former president of the Parliament of Catalonia Carme Forcadell, the former leader of ERC Joan Puigcercós and the former counselors of the Generalitat Dolors Bassa, Alba Vergés and Marta Cid. “We want to win through conviction, not force,” Godàs assured.
