The defense of Begoña Gómezwife of the President of the Government, presented a letter this Monday in which she informed the investigating judge that he will not be able to attend the meeting on November 18 since he will be on an official visit to Brazil to attend the G-20 summit.
In the letter, to which Europa Press has had access, he details the chief judge of the Investigative Court number 41 of Madrid, Juan Carlos Peinadothat although on November 5 he was notified of that summons to give him in person the complaint filed by Hazte Oír for alleged misappropriation of the software of the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) and intrusion, it will not be possible on this occasion.
And this is because the president of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silvahas extended an invitation to attend the summit, with a letter from the Brazilian first lady, Janja Lula da Silvaand the Presidency of the Government has already confirmed its presence.
Invitation and response
However, and in order to facilitate Peinado’s work, he informs him that he already has “perfect knowledge of the aforementioned complaint“given that both that document and the admission by the court have been transferred to you.
For this reason, he explains that a new summons is not necessary to file that complaint, and reminds him that “No rule requires that notification of the complaint be personal.“. “This party believes that its right of defense is safeguarded,” he points out.
The writing goes accompanied by both the invitation of Janja Lula da Silva and the response from the Presidency with the signature of Begoña Gómez. In his letter that arrived at the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs on October 22, Janja Lula da Silva explains that he will have a seat in the plenary room, a room reserved for spouses and space for bilateral meetings.
The response of Begoña Gómez appreciates the invitation to this “valuable opportunity to address challenges” and to “foster dialogue between nations.” Thus, he confirms his attendance and indicates that he looks forward to the activities that will be carried out.
