He Santander City Council launches this weekA new program that seeks to bring live classical music to the neighborhoods and reach audiences of all ages and tastes. It is about ‘La Clásica goes through neighborhoods, with music everywhere’initiative selected in the last call for municipal subsidies for the promotion and promotion of culture, which will take place from November 14 to December 17 in the different civic centers of the city and at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MAS).
This was reported this Monday at a press conference by the Councilors for Culture, Noemí Méndez; and Neighborhoods and Citizen Participation, Lorena Gutiérreznext to the riverresponsible for the program, Álvaro Piedra, from the WoM culture association. As Méndez has explained, the idea is that the classical music reaches all Santander residents who wish to get closer to it, while citizens can discover the renovated MAS museum in a different way thanks to the concert that will be held on December 12. In the same sense, Piedra has assured that the initiative seeks to democratize classical music, motivate music students and promote the careers of young musicians from Santander and Cantabria.
The eight concerts that start this week will give continuity to the four held this summer in Tabacalera. Now, WoM has selected a group of young professionals and promising musicians, closely related to the activities of the cultural association. It is about the Santander trumpeter Marco Cubillas; Matías Llona, violinist who currently plays with the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra (BOS); Adrián Martínez Beorlegui, entrepreneur who directs the “York Bowen Music Festival” and the Schumann Music Festival; the soprano Dana Kozák, soloist of the ELGAM Lyric Company and the young WoM talents Gabriela Crespo (Violin), Rubén Castro (Double Bass), Alonso Díez (Bassoon), José Ángel Pedrajo (Trumpet) and Mario Puente (French Horn), accompanied on the piano by its director, Álvaro Piedra.
The concert program for November is as follows: day 14, at the Cazoña Civic Center, at 7:00 p.m.; 19, at the Ateca Cultural Center, at 7:00 p.m.; 21, at the Juan de Santander Civic Center (Cueto), at 7:00 p.m.; 29, at the Camarreal Civic Center, at 7:00 p.m.; and 30, at the San Román Civic Center, at 7:00 p.m.. In December the concerts will be on the 3rd, at the Nueva Montaña Civic Center, at 8:00 p.m.; on the 12th, at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Santander and Cantabria, MAS, with a special program paying tribute to the painter born in Ampuero Ángel Medina, on the centenary of his birth, at 7:00 p.m.; and on the 17th, at the Tabacalera Civic Center, at 7:00 p.m..
