Saica Group reinforces its commitment to photovoltaic energy in its plants, in this case, in one of the centers of Saica Pack –its corrugated cardboard packaging division-, in Amposta, in the province of Tarragona, where the company will have a solar panel installation with which it will self-consume more than 4,500 MWh.
At the moment, there is i4.4 MWp already installedalthough the forecast is that this factory count on 4.7 MWp at the beginning of next yearwhen it is already finished. This will allow the company to supply up to 27% of the annual consumption of this plant with photovoltaic energy and reduce up to 1,143 tons of CO2 per year.
The company SUD Renewables collaborates in this project, which began last July within the framework of the Saica Group’s decarbonization strategy and produced up to 1,874 MWh of electricity through solar energy in 2023.
Saica Group, which is a member of the international initiative Science Based Targetscontemplate reach a power of 13 MWp by mid-2025 after a investment of more than 11 million of euros, thanks to the financial amounts that it has allocated since the end of 2022. According to Saica data, this investment is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 3,184 tons.
