With the tragedy that occurred in Valencia still very present, all of Spain looks to the sky waiting for a new episode of heavy rains that, as reported this weekend, will once again shake the punished eastern region, as well as Catalonia and the Balearic Islands. . Fortunately, the latest model updates show how the core of the disturbance is moving slightly to the west, away from the Mediterranean coast.
This would relieve the eastern areas, giving a small respite to the thousands of people who continue to work in the areas affected by DANA. However, the threat is now relocated to the south, targeting especially towards Andalusia. In this way, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has activated the orange warning for Wednesday due to a significant risk of rain in the regions of the Costa del Sol, the Guadalhorce Valley and Axarquía.
Update: The trend continues this morning, moving the cut-off low a little further west, away from Spain. This is certainly good news for the eastern coastal regions (Valencia, Catalonia), as it would prevent the system from feeding off the still-warm waters of the western… pic.twitter.com/ItasyoMpOm

It should be remembered that several of these areas were seriously affected by the rains at the beginning of the month, although for obvious reasons they were not as bad as those in the Valencian Community or Albacete. The water left especially notable damage in municipalities of the Guadalhorce Valley such as Álora, Cártama and Pizarra due to the overflowing of the river, as well as in towns on the Western Costa del Sol such as Torremolinos or Benalmádena due to coastal storms.
The orange warning for rain will be active from 3:00 a.m. this Wednesday, November 13, and until the end of the day in the aforementioned regions. In this time zone, rainfall of up to 30 liters per square meter in one hour and up to 100 liters per square meter in 12 hours.
What measures to take according to 112
For its part, the Emergency Coordination Center (Cecem112) advises not to park vehicles near river beds even if they are dry on days of heavy rainfall. In addition, it is recommended to avoid traveling on the road unless it is essential.
If it is necessary to travel, it is advisable to inform yourself in advance about the state of the roads, pay attention to traffic signs and stay up to date with the weather forecast through media and social networks. Driving in the rain, you should reduce your speed and increase your safety distance. You should never cross a flooded area, and if this happens, test the brakes gently afterwards. In the event of a sudden rise in water, it is crucial to be prepared to abandon the vehicle if the water level exceeds the axle of the wheels.
In the countryside, you should avoid taking shelter under solitary trees or isolated stones, as they can attract lightning. On the coast, it is prudent to avoid walks and viewpoints in the event of a storm, due to the risk of being swept away by the waves.
