This Monday, November 11, the central government approves a plan of 3,765 million euros for workers and services affected by DANA, which joins the aid plan announced last week and which raises the amount to 10.6 billion euros. It is a plan similar to that applied in the reconstruction of La Palma and that will cover those who have lost their jobs and those who were already unemployed, although, as ABC published, on the island there are still people living in housing modules who have not been able to return to their homes three years after the natural disaster.
Within the package of measures presented today, there are several chapters dedicated to vulnerable groups and social measures of all kinds. Among them, there is a special mention of women victims of gender violence. If last week the Ministry of Equality announced the reinforcement of the 016 lines to answer calls coming from the Valencian Community, because the Women’s centers in the region were being able to work at half throttle, in the plan that the Council approves today of Ministers before the Climate Summit, the Ministry of Ana Redondo is authorized to grant subsidies of half a million euros to local entities and municipal resources damaged by the effects of the very heavy rains and floods.
In addition, this money must guarantee coverage of the cost of temporary and safe accommodation for women victims of sexist violence in shelter or in an emergency situation, and facilitate the movement of victims to any of these resources. A team of specialized personnel will be hired if necessary.
Also, in turn, another battery of aid that will be managed by the Ministry of Sira Rego is explained in order to finance basic benefits in the field of youth and childhood. This department will grant subsidies to local entities, provincial councils and third sector entities that guarantee the provision of basic services to children in the Community. The implementation of psychosocial reinforcement programs for children, immediate response actions for minors who may have been left helpless due to the tragedy, and placement in families suitable to care for these vulnerable children and young people will also be encouraged.
There are many schools, youth camps and facilities damaged by the disaster, so materials must be replaced and centers repaired so that children do not suffer the effects of being deprived of their usual routines because of DANA.
The execution period of all these actions will run until December 31, 2025 and will have these budgets included in the program ‘Contingencies associated with Isolated Depression at High Levels (DANA) of 2024’. These subsidies may represent 100% of the works carried out or the activities for which they are intended, and will also be compatible with other aid already received for the same purpose.
