The spokesperson for More Madrid at City Hall, Rita Maestrehas charged against him “predator”, “pathological manipulator” and “misogynist” Íñigo Errejónwho was his romantic partner for years, and wanted to stop any frivolity by asking how she was going to cover up for him in the political field when she didn’t even know his way of acting as a couple.
“How was I going to cover up as politics what I didn’t know as a couple?” the Más Madrid co-spokesperson interviewed on the program has asked. Savedfrom La Sexta, a document recorded on October 30 and issued less than two days before Íñigo Errejón had to appear in court for a case of alleged sexual violence.
Maestre has stated that he felt the need to explain himself through a public letter in order to understand how it was possible that he had spent time in his life with a person “whom he I didn’t know another face and also to explain it to the world and to the outside world.
He published the letter because he saw “with concern how he was happily frivolizing” with expressions that hurt him, such as that everyone knew it and covered it up. “This seems to be becoming widespread among social networks, in gatherings and I began to feel that I couldn’t not respond and I couldn’t tolerate it either,” he explained.
“I’m sure that None of us knew he was a misogynist, that he was a predator and that he was a pathological manipulator, as we have known. But how was I going to cover up as politics what I didn’t know as a couple?” he remarked, after attacking the “frivolization” with that “mixture of sensationalism and opportunism.”
Rita Maestre has highlighted everything that feminism has brought to the country, which has changed things in the political sphere by allowing “since an anonymous publication accuses a leading politician of behaviours”, of which he is unaware “if they are criminals”. These behaviors “speak of abusive relationships and psychological abuse, incompatible with being a good person.”
Furthermore, Maestre has described the statement signed by Íñigo Errejón as “offensive, an insult to intelligence with that indecent mix of victimhood, throwing balls out, without assuming anything and without asking for forgiveness.
“He has not asked for forgiveness and when forgiveness is not asked it is because he does not assume responsibility for what has been done. And that is the most serious thing because if you do not assume responsibility, nor repair the damage by asking for forgiveness, No Are you able to guarantee that you will not do it again?“, said the municipal leader of Más Madrid.
For Master “it is a crime to introduce neoliberalism in a letter that could only be an assumption of responsibilities and an apology.” The councilor has not hesitated to describe part of Errejón’s statement as a “meme”, the one referring to the difference between person and character, when it is “a story of manipulation and duplicity.” “It’s like taking rhetorical virtuosity to the extreme to hide a shameful truth.”
You have contacted Elisa Mouliáa
Maestre has confessed to feeling partly “guilty”, as well as deeply “furious”, after the outbreak of the Errejón case and has acknowledged that he has contacted the complainant of who was Sumar’s spokesperson, the actress Elisa Mouliaá.
“I heard (Mouliá) refer to my letter and I also felt challengedso I contacted her,” explained Maestre.
Maestre has indicated that she is still digesting everything and that at this moment she feels “angry”, “furious”, as well as disappointed. “There is a point where you can’t help but feel a little guilty because you wonder how it is possible that saw this before. I also feel a little proud, “What has happened is very painful, but it would not have been resolved like this if it were not for feminism and that is comforting because things change, hard, but they change and change for the better,” she declared.
